To Scale or Not To Scale

 In Goal Setting

My former mentor used to say, “He/She who makes the rules wins.” I like that twist on the old saying “He who has the most gold wins.”

There is a pervasive belief in today’s business world that a business not scalable is not a business worth talking about. But is that true? Is scaling the new gold?

Some stats I will share to show the tremendous value small businesses bring to our society:

  • 99% of all businesses are small businesses
  • Nearly half of all employees in the US are employed by small businesses
  • 80% of small businesses have no employees (this stat does not account for contractors and the new “gig” economy.)
  • Millennials own 7% of small businesses and females own 43%.

So, should you scale your business?
