ELEVATE Women in Leadership Summit

October 12-14, 2022
The Arrabelle at Vail Square, Vail Colorado

The best learning and development happens away from the office, BUT conferences are not always what they are cracked up to be.

We need something different..

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be hosting the Elevate Women Leaders summit where 20 driven, intelligent, and curious women in leadership from all over the world will gather at The Arrabelle at Vail Square for 2 days and 3 nights of professional development content, cutting-edge communication training, and a network building event.

Why Am I Passionate about Elevating Women in Leadership?

women are underrepresented in most senior-level positions
women comprise less than 5% of Fortune 500 CEOs
less than 15% of executive officers
less than 20% of full professors in the natural sciences
and only 6% of partners in venture capital firms.

My purpose is to help you reach that next level of leadership, income milestone, and the level of freedom and independence you seek in your role.

The elevate summit is designed to be the perfect cornerstone of intense learning, leadership development, and self revitalization while building a network that could last you a lifetime.

Designed for women just like you, this is the place where we will learn a new approach to communication, and address key topics like employee retention, talent acquisition, managing up, avoiding burnout in yourself and your team and the data that supports you being an emotionally intelligent leader– which means a better bottom line for you and your organization.

There is nothing more powerful than a smart group of women learning together and connecting. Elevate brings a group of high-level women leaders together for a highly curated list of cutting-edge topics, in a stunning setting and with enough time to reflect and work on future vision as well.

Inside the Retreat

Our itinerary is intelligently curated with key topics you need in today’s world and in a way that gets you the absolute most development and accelerated integration of the content, with time to breathe as well. Each session has been crafted to lead into the next, encouraging creative flow and integration of your leadership development.

you will learn exactly….

1. How to use Appreciative Inquiry with your team and improve communication and results.

This evidence-based approach to feedback, accountability, coaching, and mentorship conversations is exactly what leaders need for today’s team.

Brenda will teach you a very special and compelling, scientifically based communication model that will change the way your team engages. You will return to work as a much more powerful listener, and giver of feedback and will have a secret skill to activate the brain of every member of your team. Even the very best communicators will come away with a fresh toolbox of ways to get your team to perform at their very best. This evidence-based approach to feedback, accountability, coaching, and mentorship conversations is exactly what leaders need for today’s team. APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY will forever change your conversations and outcomes and pave a path to increased trust on the team.. AI is not to be confused with “positive feedback”–instead it is the neuro-based feedback strategy used by CocaCola, Apple, J&J, Visa and more. Learn more about AI here.

“Workplace communication statistics show that 86% of employees and executives cite the lack of effective collaboration and communication as the main causes for workplace failures.”

2. What your Emotional Intelligence strengths and challenges are.

All attendees will take the scientifically validated EQ 2.0 Leadership Assessment prior to the event and we will de-brief the results as a group. We will look at 15 components that comprise your EQ and which of the 15 are key for today’s leaders–hint-assertiveness is one of them. Truly effective leaders are often characterized as having a high degree of emotional intelligence or EQ which includes soft skills such as self-awareness, self-expression, stress management, interpersonal skills, and decision making.

According to Daniel Goleman (2002), a leading influencer in the field of EI “70% of employees perception of the organizational climate is associated with the emotional intelligence of the leader”

A leader with a high degree of emotional intelligence tends to be empathetic, communicates effectively, responds well to change, and has the ability to inspire others. The good news is that EQ is a skill that can be improved over time (unlike IQ which remains fixed once we enter adulthood). An EQ-i2.0 leadership assessment is a valuable development tool for anyone in a leadership role.

3. How to be a thought leader in your industry.

Our surveys show this is the stand-out item that everyone knows they need to do, but cannot find the time. You will have a chance to brainstorm what thought leadership looks like for you and your role, regardless of your time limits, and go back with a solid plan. Is it time for you to write that book, speak at conferences or simply be more active on LinkedIn? Perhaps you want to be more of a thought leader in your organization or industry? Thought Leadership is one of those things we do for our future self and yet it is so hard to make time to do it. Not only will you have a chance to work-out ideas with the group, but you will gain fresh ideas from others that may be useful for you.

“Act as if. Want to stand out as a thought leader? It’s time to go beyond putting your head down and just getting your work done.” Denise Brosseau, Author Ready to Be a Thought Leader

4. Navigating the BIG 3- Balance, Boundaries & Burnout.

Balancing “it all” was hard enough prior to 2020 but now the complexity of balancing work and life is at an all time high and guess who bares the brunt of the imbalance? Women! Attendees will use this group as a braintrust to garner ideas and solutions about setting appropriate boundaries while still attending to key priorities and getting results. We will also cover the burnout epidemic and how to navigate this in ourselves and our team.

  • Is it time management, better boundaries or a whole new approach to life that you need?
  • Where are your greatest energy leaks and your obstacles to change?
  • What habits are keeping you in the same state and how can you overcome the way you have always done things?
  • How to know if you are burned-out or just tired?
  • What to do with a burned-out team?

5. A Chance to Re-set

In addition to the powerful content we will cover, we have arranged for a movement expert to join us each day to address our physical selves and teach us a bit of meditation. We will also do a bit of creative vision board work together and there will be time for hikes and walks around beautiful Vail, Colorado.

“Reflection is one of the most underused yet powerful tools for success.”

"I have attended several retreats with Brenda, and my favorite thing is her ability to bring together high-level women leaders in meaningful ways. Brenda has a real gift for connecting women who can truly support one another in their personal and professional endeavors. Over the 10 years I have worked with Brenda, she has supported me in cultivating deep, high-quality relationships with women like me who are in business for themselves or in executive leadership positions. They are priceless relationships."
Wendy Phillips/CEO Big Buzz
"The retreats created by Brenda that I have attended have always exceeded my expectations in every way. The content is always spot on with what I needed to learn for my career and life, even when I did not know I needed to learn it. The caliber of women at every retreat has been amazing. I am always blown away by the accomplishments of the people that I have been honored to be in the room with. I have gotten so much from collaborating with and learning from the other attendees. I have been able to get perspective and help on my business and career challenges from Brenda, & the attendees that have made lasting improvements. I wouldn’t miss a program put on by Brenda. I know that I will come away from it much better than I went in.'

"Brenda was my executive coach for over a year. I started working with Brenda right after coming back from maternity leave and was settling into my new role as a VP. The range of tactics and insights she provided were invaluable and made incredible differences in my working style as well as among my team members. I am forever grateful for her encouragement, honesty, patience and enthusiasm that allowed me to excel in areas I never knew possible. In addition she helped me understand my core values as a leader and helped me shape my role in a very succinct and powerful way that has made impacts not only at work but in my personal life as well. Bottom line - Brenda freaking ROCKS!"

About Brenda

Since founding Management Momentum in 2004, Abdilla has developed a wide portfolio of options for clients who want to navigate career-changes and job promotions, increase productivity, improve leadership skills and remove obstacles in the way of moving forward. Through coaching, workshops, programs and assessments, she helps clients reach their desired outcomes sooner rather than later. More than 90% of Brenda’s coaching clients get promoted, land the role they desire, or address their core issues within 12 months of engaging Brenda.

Brenda’s corporate clients, like Xcel Energy, Regal Cinemas, Vail Resorts, SCL Health and Comcast, also hire her to deliver workshops on critical topics like emotionally intelligent teams, how to be a better leader and her most popular program: Time Rehab. Brenda’s custom programs often impact learning on a deeper level with insights gleaned from personality assessments that include The Enneagram, Emergenetics, DiSC, Birkman and The Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQI 2.0).

Brenda’s clients and audiences come away with much better tools for dealing with today’s complexities, understanding of their specific blind spots, learning how to activate their professional network, and finding their unique career superpower.

Brenda is the best-selling author of Outsmarting Crazytown and What’s Your Lane: Career Clarity for Moms Who Want to Work a Little, A lot, or Not at All (2013). Brenda serves as the professional facilitator for two Denver-based Women Presidents’ Organization groups and is the part of the executive coaching team for Powers Resource Center in Boulder.

On a personal note, Brenda is a devoted foodie and loves cooking and feeding people. Her claim to fame is having fed 60 people a gourmet sit-down dinner with no catering help, and one oven.
